PM Nawaz arrives in Zhengzhou to represent Pakistan at 14th SCO Summit
He said he believed that every SCO meeting will contribute to cooperation between member countries as well as regional development, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will lead the Pakistan delegation to the Heads of Government Council Meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) being held in Zhengzhou, China on 14-15 December 2015, the Foreign Office (FO) said on Friday.
The meeting is also being attended by Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Karim Masimov, Kyrgyz Prime Minister Temir Sariyev, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, Tajik Prime Minister Qohir Rasulzoda, and First Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Rustam Azimov.
On the sidelines of the summit, the prime minister will have a meeting with his Chinese counterpart Li Keqiang and discuss matters of mutual interest.
Topics for discussion during the two-day meeting include trade, investment, culture, finance and common global concerns.
Li made the call when hosting a welcome banquet for foreign leaders attending the meeting, slated for Tuesday in Zhengzhou, the capital of central Henan Province.
The SCO now has six member countries – China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
Hailing the SCO as a model of good neighborliness and win-win cooperation, Li said the organization has always adopted an approach of non-alliance, non-confrontation and non-targeting of third parties in regional and global affairs.
Alexander Yakovenko, Russian envoy to the United Kingdom, has said “the SCO Business Council, Interbank Consortium, and Energy Club are at the forefront of expanding practical cooperation among member states”.
Cheng said SCO leaders will analyse SCO cooperation and exchange opinions on regional economic cooperation.
