Donald Trump slams closest rival Ted Cruz as a ‘maniac’
Look at Paris, look at San Bernardino, it has given a seriousness to the race that people are looking for who is prepared to be commender in chief, who understands the threats we face.
Here are five questions about the latest surveys.
Trump, who’s topped GOP national surveys since July, takes a beating against Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton, with the former secretary of state claiming 50% to Trump’s 40%, according an NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll released Monday.
Republican presidential candidate and Texas Sen. Marco Rubio, at 13%, and Ben Carson, at 10%.
Very big. In fact, Trump would call it “huge”.
Donald Trump has a new target: Sen. That marks “a 21 percentage-point leap that smashes records for upsurges in recent Iowa caucuses history”, notes the Des Moines Register.
Cruz’s gains are coming at Carson’s expense.
Cruz’s dogged pursuit of conservative Iowa voters has paid off in the form of a 10-point lead over Trump in the state, which has one of the earliest presidential contests and is seen as a crucial battleground. Carson’s backing by that group fell by the same amount.
While the poll was only the second to show Cruz leading in the Hawkeye State, it was conducted by respected pollster Ann Selzer, who is considered the gold standard in measuring the attitudes of the Iowa electorate. Ted Cruz, the co-front-runner in the state after four polls released in the past week show his surge. Also appearing in the main debate will be Florida Sen.
As expected, Donald Trump has made a decision to attack Ted Cruz as Cruz’s numbers rise. That’s double Trump’s 24 percent. Rand Paul at 5% and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Carly Fiorina at 2%.
“I would say I have far better judgment than Ted”, Trump said in an interview on CNN’sState of the Union, citing as examples his business success and opposition to the war in Iraq.
Most of the respondents were called after Trump’s comments and the NBC/Journal and Register/Bloomberg polls showed his support rising, not falling. The Senator’s lead is also accompanied by the highest favorability rating in the GOP field at 73 percent. The Fox poll put him at 2 percent.
If the presidential election came down to Rubio versus Clinton, Rubio has 48 percent support while Clinton has 45 percent. Cruz has not responded to the allegation, but Trump suggested a confrontation isn’t far off.
The poll has a margin of error of 4.9% plus or minus.
