Leicester stuns stumbling Chelsea 2-1, top of Premier League
On a night when Leicester regained top spot courtesy of goals from Jamie Vardy and the outstanding Riyad Mahrez in a thoroughly deserved 2-1 victory over the champions, Mourinho also rounded on the ballboys, whom he accused of being a “disgrace to the Premier League” for alleged time-wasting.
Riyad Mahrez scored a superb goal to put Leicester 2-0 up against Chelsea.
The Chelsea boss said he did not know what the problem was with Hazard, whose form and confidence, as with many of his team-mates, has dipped this season.
Vardy’s next involvement would hurt Chelsea further.
“No one can buy Vardy or Mahrez in January”.
The Blues attempted a retaliation immediately afterwards as Nemanja Matic headed just over following a corner, with the ball kissing the top of the crossbar on its way behind. Unsurprisingly, it was Mahrez and Vardy linking up again, with the England striker grabbing his 15th league goal of the season.
The hosts doubled their lead three minutes after the restart as the scintillating Mahrez collected Marc Albrighton’s crossfield pass and mesmerised Cesar Azpilicueta before bending a shot beyond Courtois for his 11th league goal of the season.
Speculation still surrounds the happiness of Diego Costa at Chelsea as the forward continues to have a hard season.
Substitute Loic Remy reduced the deficit for Chelsea but late pressure couldn’t yield an equalizer for Jose Mourinho’s side, which has lost nine of its 16 games and is amazingly just one point from safety.
The Foxes’ last win against the Blues came in February 2001. His awesome skills were why he was named Player of the Month, reports Heavy.com, with Leicester’s Claudio Ranieri winning Manager of the month.
“A relegation battle? No I don’t believe this”. Maybe soon we will be big stars but it’s so odd when you look at the table and we are first, looking at the big clubs below us’. We can’t write them off because they’re a fantastic team with fantastic players. All last season I did phenomenal work and I brought them to a level which is not their level, it is more than their level.
“I am surprised this is always the last question”. I want to be.
“I hope Mr (owner Roman) Abramovich and the board want me to stay because I want to stay”.
Jose Mourinho admits he feels “ashamed” by Chelsea’s lowly position in the Barclays Premier League and “betrayed” by their performance at Leicester.
“Day by day in training, I have no complaints”.
Mourinho admitted that Leicester were the better team for the majority of the game, but stated that his side “conceded two goals that are unacceptable for me”.
“My players got all that information, you can ask them, they are honest guys who will tell you it is true”.
“I don’t know what is wrong”.
