One Direction hiatus was a unanimous decision
The boyband returned to the X Factor stage which launched them to super-stardom for the show’s finale last night, performing one of their last performance before their break begins next year. The closing song from Made in the A.M. was a fitting choice, especially given that the song is an ode to everyone who helped them quite literally make history.
“I could never have predicted what happened next. And I know you are gonna take a break, you deserve the break”.
“What can I say, five years and you have given so much to so many people”, David Beckham told them.

Zayn Malik quit the band earlier this year, several months before Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Liam Payne announced plans to take a lengthy break from each other in 2016.
In a bid to reassure the fans further, that they fully intend to return in the near future they also recorded a special message which was posted on the official One Direction Twitter account.
Afterwards Liam said, “We just want to thank X Factor, Simon and the whole crew, we can’t believe what’s happened. You have been an absolute pleasure to work with”. We can’t thank you enough. Congratulations – five years of incredible moments. “You need to come back soon or you’re going to have more videos like that”.
The Drag Me Down singer later thanked everyone for his “amazing” time in One Direction. One Direction band member Payne acted as the representative of the group when he gave a “massive thank you” to the band’s fans.
Sheeran wrote that he found himself “seeing the world through a screen and not my eyes”, so the break from his phone and email would allow him to “see everything I missed”.
One Direction say that the past few years had been insane for them and they will go on a two-year hiatus in March next year.
