Hyundai launches SUV ‘Creta’ at Rs 8.59 lakh in India – Automobile
Country’s second largest passenger auto maker Hyundai Motor India (HMIL) on Tuesday launched its much awaited sports utility vehicle (SUV), Creta, priced between Rs 8.59 lakh and Rs 13.60 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Creta has a starting price of Rs 8.6 lakh for the base petrol variant with the top-end petrol trim is priced at Rs 11.3lakh, as per a news report by Zigwheels.
Creta is being launched globally for the first time in India.
As Creta, the S-Cross will be the company’s flagship entrant to the compact SUV segment and will be sold across all Nexa dealerships in India.
As of the now, the S-Cross will be offered in two diesel options – a 1.3-litre DDiS 200 and other being the powerful 1.6-litre DDiS 320 engine both transmissions mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed manual gearbox respectively.
Hyundai Creta will compete with the offerings, including Ford Ecosport, Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and Mahindra Scorpio, Mahindra XUV500 and Tata Safari Storme, which are in a price range of Rs 6.75 lakh to Rs 15.99 lakh.
The SUV segment has been growing in India since 2013 at an annual rate of 25 per cent but it declined in the January-May period by about 6 per cent. “Creta is a strong expression of modern and new age Hyundai made for smart Indian customers”, Seo said at a press conference in Delhi.
