Two Xperia Z6 Handsets Coming from Sony in 2016
The largest one out of the lot would be the 6.4-inch Xperia Z6 Ultra.
Also, if you were expecting any new Xperia smartphones next month at CES 2016, then you will be disappointed since Sony Mobile is unlikely to launch any new handsets at the trade fair. Some people were actually spreading rumors that Sony might quit the smartphone market altogether, until Sony Mobile CEO Hitori Totoki put an end to those allegations by saying that the Japanese manufacturer was still committed to its smartphone business. Most of the line-up will reportedly run the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chip, except for the Mini, which will have a Snapdragon 620. The source speculates that Sony is possibly dropping the “flagship” label on the Z6 Mini, Ultra and Compact, leaving the Z6 and Z6 Plus.
It is easy to assume that the upcoming Sony flagships will feature 4K screen resolution, as the Xperia Z5 Premium already flaunts one.
You can pick up the Xperia Z5 Premium starting today at JB Hi-fi in Chrome, while Sony Kiosks and Sony Centre stores will offer the phone in all 3 colours (Chrome, Gold and Black).
However, we just got hold of a contradicting new rumor, which claims that Sony will not drown us with Xperias in 2016, but focus on no more than two major devices for the whole year. The first revelation is expected in June 2016, not in January. The tradition may be revived in 2016 after the Xperia frenzy. The current rumours seem to suggest that of the original list of five the Xperia Z6 Mini is the one which won’t see the light of day, with the Compact, Ultra, Plus and regular flagship edition all being planned for launch. Sources claim that the two products will be launched about four months apart.
Based on CN Beta’s report, the next line of Xperia Z6 phones will come with metal back covers, a significantly different look compared to the Z5.
