New Delhi, Dec.14: Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu on Monday said that the Railways should not have conducted the demolition drive in Shakur Basti area at the height of winter. Six month old Rukaiya, daughter of Mohammed Kalim was found dead under a pile of her parents’ belongings, which triggered a furore.
The DDA had reportedly said that they were carrying out the demolition drive on the orders of the National Green Tribunal.
The demolition of shanties in the Belagaon area was reportedly carried out by Delhi Development Authority.
The Commission has issued a notice to the Chief Secretary of Delhi government calling for a report within two weeks in the matter.
AAP additionally protested in Parliament over the difficulty after Speaker Sumitra Mahajan rejected an adjournment movement moved by it.
