Flags are flying at half-staff across the state in honor of the victims of what many call one of the worse school massacre’s in USA history.

They said residents can expect to see officers driving through parking lots and around streets surrounding schools throughout the day.
Newtown officials say they will try to make the anniversary as normal a school day as possible.
Among those who died were first-grade students Charlotte Bacon, Daniel Barden, Olivia Engel, Josephine Gay, Ana Marquez-Greene, Dylan Hockley, Madeleine Hsu, Catherine Hubbard, Chase Kowalski, Jesse Lewis, James Mattioli, Grace McDonnell, Anne Marie Murphy, Elimie Parker, Jack Pinto, Noah Pozner, Caroline Previdi, Jessica Rekos, Avielle Richman, Benjamin Wheeler and Allison Wyatt.
Soto was among the six educators who lost their lives.
Meanwhile, some states have move in the opposite direction and expanded gun rights, according to The Associated Press.
The many lives lost from mass shootings in recent years across the country, and the heartbreak that is passed onto their loved ones, was honored on Monday during a bell ringing ceremony in Duluth. “Their pain and grief are real and powerful, but so are their courage and resilience in the face of unspeakable horror”.

In a post on his Facebook page on Monday, the US President said a bipartisan bill which would have made background checks compulsory for virtually everyone buying a gun was blocked by the Senate despite the fact families of the Newtown massacre were present at the vote. “We’re not fools – we know that we can’t heal every troubled mind, or stop every act of violence”, he wrote.
