Ryan Mallett: Mallett can earn up to $2.5 million in 2016
The Ravens will sign Mallett to a deal worth up to $2.5 million in 2016, according to NFL Media. Matt Schaub started two games as Flacco’s replacement, but he suffered chest and shoulder injuries that caused him to be put on the inactive list for last Sunday’s game against Seattle.
Ed Werder of ESPN reports that the Ravens made a decision to move forward with a deal for Mallett after the quarterback told them that he’s received professional help for the issues that ended his time with the Texans.
The 2011 third-round pick out of Arkansas backed up Tom Brady for three years in New England before being traded to Houston.
The Texans grew exhausted of Mallett toward the end of October, after the second known incident of his being late led to his release.

It was the second misstep by Mallett with the Texans. Clausen completed 23 of 40 passes for 274 yards with an interception. Mallett said he missed practice because he overslept.
But Hoyer was pulled in the fourth quarter of Houston’s first game, and Mallett became the starter. He has strong arm but hasn’t shown much growth as a passer during his National Football League career.
