Jose Aldo breaks silence after crushing Conor McGregor defeat
After winning the featherweight title at UFC 194, he appears ready to take another huge step in realizing that goal.
Frankie Edgar, who was promised a title shot after engaging in a battle against Urijah Faber in UFC Fight Night in Manila, is the fighter that would – most likely – be the next challenge for McGregor.
“I do enjoy the numbers”, he said. McGregor has already talked trashed towards Dos Anjos and Cerrone at the recent Go Big Conference.
“If I go to that lightweight division, there’s no way in hell that I’m vacating my belt”. He slipped an Aldo punch, decked the champion with a hard left-handed punch to the jaw, then finished him with two more lefts on the canvas. One perfunctory hammer strike later and referee John McCarthy waved off the contest.
After validating his prediction in just 13 seconds, McGregor hardly sounded surprised. But McGregor makes his own decisions, and it sure sounds as though a run at the lightweight title is in the cards for 2016. If God wills it, we will come back a lot stronger, and we will bounce back.
“I understand why previously they would do that, because other fighters don’t fight as frequently as I do. I’d love it. “[McGregor’s] ideal for [New York].
That person is Frankie Edgar who is coming off a stunning knockout (KO) win over Chad Mendes, the same guy whom McGregor disposed at UFC 189 back in July.
“I said his right hand would get him into trouble”, McGregor explained. At 27 years of age, I stand here, the unified world champion. Unlike Rousey, McGregor was able to take on his biggest challenger, Jose Aldo, to unify the UFC ‘s featherweight belts. “Times are good. The options are there”, he added.
Where should Conor McGregor compete next?
McGregor feels that even if the fight had gone longer, the result would’ve been the same. Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey got wrecked in her last outing against Holly Holm and will receive an immediate rematch at UFC 200.
