Bolton moviegoers will be among the half a million watching the Force Awakens during its opening week – with many attending Cineworld and Vue just after midnight tomorrow and into the early hours of the 17th.
The film’s biggest stars were all present at the red carpet including Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Lupita Nyong’o and new comers John Boyega and Daisy Ridley.
Harris-Perry has been very vocal about the fact that she thinks Star Wars franchise is racist, because Darth Vader is a “totally black guy” when under the mask (which she thinks is a coded message) and does not care for it one bit. The Force Awakens is expected to be the highest grossing movie of 2016 and could challenge Avatar’s $2.7bn (£1.78bn) as the most successful film at the global box office.
“Ridley, another one of the series” new faces, said she was so nervous to see what the throngs of fans on hand had to say about the movie, and her character, Rey. Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy told the crowd just before the first screening of the film, reports Entertainment Weekly. She is a member of the First Order and part of the dark side. “And without spoiling it, I can say that #StarWarsForceAwakens has the BEST final shot of any Star Wars film”.
Seeing any movie at its premiere – complete with a red carpet, stars, food and booze – has a way of making that movie seem extra special.
“Well, in the ’70s nobody knew what to anticipate”, Ford said.
The feature didn’t come without controversy from Star Wars fans, of course, who commented on the post that the lightsaber isn’t technically Finn’s.
Abrams and “Star Wars” creator Lucas posed together for photos, and both men took time to chat with fans – some dressed as X-Wing pilots and others as new “Force Awakens” characters – before heading inside.
