Much of the area will see 5 to 9 inches of snow accumulation through tomorrow.
Some 4 to 7 inches of snow are possible, with snow beginning around midnight in the Devils Lake, Grand Forks, Fosston, Minn.
People are advised to watch for frozen spots hidden by snow on the ground. Winter weather advisories will go in effect Monday afternoon through Tuesday evening for several mountain roads.
Tuesday night into Wednesday, low pressure strengthens and heads toward the Upper Midwest, wrapping snow around its circulation in the northern Plains, Upper Mississippi Valley and northern Great Lakes.
Snow along the Front Range should start to decrease late Tuesday morning into Tuesday afternoon from west to east.
Up to 10 inches of snow is predicted to fall Sunday and Monday in some lower elevation areas and more in the mountains.

Another round of snow is poised to hit the Denver area starting early Tuesday, forecasters say.
The difference in the snowfall amounts in the same city is explained by the northerly winds that crossed the Helena Valley pushing moisture onto the south hills of the city, Nutter said. Cold temperatures and gusty northerly winds will also accompany the snow.
A very slight chance of snow is forecast for Wednesday night into Thursday morning.
According to the weather service, a winter storm watch means “there is a potential for significant snow, sleet or ice accumulations that may impact travel”.
