TNT Cancels Three Collection, Renews Three Others
Not only was it a project that creator and star Edward Burns had been putting together for nearly 20 years, but the network made a decision to use the 1960s-set police drama as its first (and perhaps only) foray into the world of binge-watching, with all of the episodes going up for streaming early in the season.
The series stars Christian Kane, Rebecca Romijn, Lindy Booth, John Kim, John Larroquette and Noah Wyle.
The Librarians and Major Crimes join a trio of other TNT dramas that were previously renewed for new seasons in 2016: Rizzoli and Isles, The Last Ship and Murder in the First. Unfortunately, neither those things nor decent critical reviews helped the shows ratings much, and the 2.1 million-strong audience for the premiere dwindled to around 500,000 for the finale.
And while these announcements weren’t part of the TNT press release, Deadline reports that TNT is cancelling “Legends”, starring Sean Bean; and two of its freshman series, “Agent X”, and “Public Morals”. Also starring are G.W. Bailey as Lieutenant Provenza, Tony Denison as Lieutenant Andy Flynn, Michael Paul Chan as Lieutenant Mike Tao, Raymond Cruz as Detective Julio Sanchez, Phillip P. Keene as tech expert Buzz Watson, Kearran Giovanni as Detective Amy Sykes, Jonathan Del Arco as Dr. Morales and Robert Gossett as Assistant Chief Russell Taylor.
TNT is bringing back two of its heavy hitters and saying goodbye to three others. The 10-episode third season arrives summer of 2016. The series is produced by The Shephard/Robin Company and Walking Entropy, Inc., in association with Warner Bros. “Murder in the First” reaches more than 5.6 million viewers per episode across various platforms. The show tracks connected San Francisco crimes over its serialized plots.
