CBI scrutinized DDCA file during raid: Kejriwal
Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today took Principal Secretary Rajendra Kumar, Delhi Government, to its headquarters for questioning, sources said.
By evening a whole new spin was given by the AAP government, which claimed that the CBI came looking for papers pertaining to allegations of corruption in the Delhi District Cricket Association, casting direct aspersions at Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, who used to handle the affairs of the cricketing body.
The state-run All India Radio tweeted: “‘CBI denies raids at #Delhi C Arvind Kejriwal’s office says Principal Secrerary Rajendra Kumar’s office raided”.
Ravi Shankar Prasad replied to Kejriwal’s claims and said, “CBI has already clarified Delhi CM’s office has not been raided”.
Political parties came out in strong support of the Delhi Chief Minister with the CPI(M) being first out with a statement maintaining, “The CBI raid on the office of the Chief Minister of Delhi is highly condemnable and smacks of a politically motivated act”.
The chief minister claimed he was in fact the target and that Kumar was just an excuse.
Justifying his “coward remark” against Prime Minister Narendra Modi he said, “My words are bad but your deeds are wrong”.
Pandemonium was witnessed in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday after the Congress and other opposition parties raised issues including CBI raids at Delhi Secretariat and developments in Arunachal Pradesh Assembly. The agency said it has recovered Rs.2.4 lakh and an additional Rs. 3 lakh in foreign currency from Kumar’s house. The raid has nothing to do with Arvind Kejriwal or his tenure.
“The Chief Minister’s Office has not been raided”.
On Wednesday morning, taking to micro-blogging site, Kejriwal tweeted, “CBI kept reading DDCA file in my office”.
Naidu also said Kejriwal’s reaction to the raid reflects “hypocrisy at its worst”.
Kejriwal, a former bureaucrat and anti-corruption campaigner, rose to prominence as leader of the Aam Aadmi Party, which means “common man”.
A new, bitter standoff between the Centre and Delhi government has found its way into vitriolic 140 character tweets after the print and electronic media went back to file their stories for the day.
“If CBI had any evidence against Rajender, why didn’t they share it wid me?”
Jaitley retorted saying that the TMC member earlier said that the Chief Minister’s office was raided and has now changed it to the precincts of the CM’s office.
