Giants pull into first-place tie with win over Dolphins
Giants quaterback Eli Manning had a near-perfect night, completing 27 of 31 passes for 337 yards, with four touchdown passes and no interceptions. His passer rating of 151.5 was his highest since 2009, and his 87 percent completion percentage was a career best.
The loss mathematically eliminated Miami (5-8) from playoff contention with three games left in the regular season.
In addition to Manning, wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. played exceptionally well, where he caught seven receptions for a total 166 yards and two touchdowns, one of which was a Mario Manningham-worthy foot drag at the sidelines of the end zone.
Injuries: Beckham had to come out of the game briefly due to cramping in his calves, but was able to return after one series. The touchdown, originally ruled incomplete, contributed to a 31-24 win for the Dolphins.

New York Giants defensive tackle Cullen Jenkins (99) hits Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill (17) during the first half of an NFL football game, Monday, Dec. 14, 2015, in Miami Gardens, Fla. But Tannehill overthrew an open Landry with his team trailing and less than five minutes to go.
For the 28 time in the regular-season, he led the Giants to a victory from a fourth-quarter deficit or tie.
“We’ve got three to go, and it’s strictly playing for the love of the game, because now you’re out”, Campbell said.
With Bobby McCain hurt and Grimes and Jamar Taylor struggling, the Dolphins plan to get a long look at rookie Tony Lippett in coverage Sunday, Campbell said.
Manning had a great night, picking apart the Dolphins secondary, especially with his number one target OBJ. The two have proven to be an elite combination this season. On Monday, Miller had just 12 carries but made the a lot of them, gaining 89 yards and scoring two touchdowns.
The team also didn’t seem to want to stick with the run-which seemed to be working most of the time. Justin Pugh subbed in for Flowers after he left injured in the fourth quarter and had a strong block on a third-and-short.
Marshall, the Jets receiver, said Moore gave him “a cheap shot” that actually injured him during the Jets’ 23-20 victory at the Giants nine days ago. “It snapped my neck”. The Giants will host the unbeaten Panthers (1:00 PM ET on FOX), while the Dolphins will get a road game against the Chargers (4:25 PM ET on CBS). The Giants’ Cooper Taylor lost his helmet covering a kickoff and still made the tackle….
Although the Vikings didn’t win on Monday Night Football against the Arizona Cardinals during week 14, it was by far the most encouraging effort that we’ve seen in prime time.
