Sevilla face Molde in Europa League last 32
In February, the two clubs will meet in the last 32 of the Europa League following yesterday’s draw.
The draw involved 24 clubs who qualified from the group stage, plus eight clubs who came from the group stage of the Champions League after reaching third place.
UEFA has said that the first legs will be played “in principle” on February 18th and 25th.
In what seems like a regular match-up in the Champions League knockout rounds, Barcelona and Arsenal once again face-off.
However, they are seeded for the draw, which means they will avoid the 12 Europa League group winners and fellow Champions League drop-outs Bayer Leverkusen, Porto and Olympiakos.
The Red Devils have been drawn against FC Midtjylland in the last 32 of the competition, following their failure to qualify from their Champions League group. Dynamo Kiev are also at this stage for the first time in 16 years.
Many European heavyweights will be in involved in this season’s Europa League.
Rasmus Ankersen, club chairman, added that Midtjylland will draw on their Europa League play-off experience having slayed Southampton with a 2-1 aggregate score: “We beat an English team already this season in Southampton. Jurgen Klopp knows us and will not underestimate us”. “Here’s another big challenge for us and we’re ready to take it on”.
He tweeted:”Unreal! I’m actually going to play against Manchester United”. We’d like to think we have as good a squad as anyone else still in the competition, and with a Champions League place on offer to the winners, there’s nothing to suggest we can’t go all the way.
In other ties, Borussia Dortmund meet FC Porto, defending champions Sevilla take on Molde, Fiorentina meet Tottenham, Villarreal do battle with Napoli, while Marc Janko and Adama Traore’s FC Basel meet French side Saint Etienne.
The second legs are scheduled for 10 and 17 March. This is a match worthy of a Europa League final.
United will be given just 600 tickets for the first leg at the 11,000-capacity MCH Stadium.
