– Hollywood became the center of the “Star Wars” universe Monday night as a host of celebrities walked the red carpet for the world premiere of the film series’ much-anticipated latest chapter, “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”.
Lucas was aware of his shortcomings, and in a 1999 interview with Empire magazine after the release of The Phantom Menace, admitted: “I’d be the first person to say I can’t write dialogue”. It was hard work, caring and, I’m sure, many feathers were ruffled along the way.
Until midnight, Hollywood Boulevard will be closed for four blocks between Sycamore and Highland avenues – where the three theaters are located – for what could be the largest movie premiere in Hollywood history.
The fiercely guarded plot of “The Force Awakens”, co-written and directed by J.J. Abrams, centers on scavenger Rey’s (Daisy Ridley) search for her lost family and rogue Stormtrooper Finn’s (John Boyega) desire to escape his past.
Fortunately, many of those who saw the film are respecting the #nospoilers code, but there are people out there who will surely get a sick satisfaction out of ruining the film’s surprises for everyone who has to wait until Friday.
Attack of the Clones, he says, was “the complete opposite of everything that I had loved about the Original Trilogy”. Both are unexceptional… I kept looking for an ‘edge, ‘ to peer around the corny, solemn comic-book strophes; he was facing them frontally and full. “I (just) hope they don’t think it’s an ugly baby”, he joked to USA TODAY.
I don’t know that I have a good answer, but it’s not hard to spot it if there’s a force inside your workforce.
“I felt it was progressive as a female character, there was a liberation in the body being covered in practical armour and for the focus to be on the character rather than the way the physical form looked”.
Take “Star Wars”, for instance. The hype might have gotten the best of them, but it didn’t take long for people to realize it was a bad film.
“George Lucas, from the bottom of my heart, and behalf of everyone involved with ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens, ‘ thank you, sir”.
“I loved it”, actor-director Zach Braff told The Associated Press immediately after the premiere. It feels great to be this excited about “Star Wars” again, so when I thanked Abrams face to face tonight, I was thanking him for setting the table for all the filmmakers who are going to get to play in this sandbox in the years ahead.
