Conor McGregor Stops Jose Aldo in 13 Seconds
Conor McGregor finished off Jose Aldo in record time, 13 seconds to be exact, to become the new undisputed Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Featherweight champion this weekend.
Aldo said he believes the UFC should do an immediate rematch in his octagon post-fight interview, and he’s right based on what he has accomplished as UFC featherweight champion and how the UFC has treated long reigning champions in the past. His huge popularity among mixed martial arts fans was also a key factor in UFC 194 raking in a gate of $10.1 million, smashing the previous mark of $7.2 million set at July’s UFC 189.
“I kind of said to him, ‘Well, what’s next?'” Kavanagh said.
“If (McGregor doesn’t vacate his belt) then we do Frankie Edgar”, White told UFC.com after the fight.
However it appears Aldo will have to wait for a chance to right the ship against McGregor since the new champion has made it clear he wants to move up to 155-pounds and challenge for his second belt. “There are people who do great things, but when you combine it all together, when you combine the whole package, the whole animal that is the fight game, I don’t think there’s nobody that does it better than me”.
Jose Aldo is consoled in his locker room after losing to Conor McGregor. “The trash talking didn’t affect me, I don’t care what he says”, he said.
He also revealed that McGregor’s mental torture in the build up to the fight didn’t have any impact on the result.
The UFC brass would prefer to protect their investment and ensure that McGregor makes it to the biggest pay-per-view of all time, but the man himself is having none of it.
McGregor (19-2) finished the fight with an electrifying exchange shortly after the opening bell, slipping Aldo’s lead right and cracking him on the jaw with a huge left hand. It is a sport, we have to accept. Not only winning one lives life.
Boom, he’s back. We’ll see what Conor decides to do, if he decides to make the weight, not make the weight, whatever.
