Kejriwal’s Prin Secy Rajendra Kumar at CBI headquarter for quizzing
The Delhi Secretariat was on Tuesday morning turned into a citadel with the presence of heavy police force – not because of any VIP movement but because a CBI raid was being conducted at the office of Rajendra Kumar, principal secretary to the chief minister.
Heightening the unprecedented acrimony, Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia accused the CBI agency of seizing documents “irrelevant” to the probe against Principal Secretary Rajendra Kumar.
“(But) this is not the voice of CBI’s independence but the voice of its master”, he said, adding the Central Bureau of Investigation was being manipulated by the ruling party.
Here are a few tweets from Kejriwal – doing the rounds over social media – which show how AAP convener’s statements changed after he came to power. He alleges that files were seized from his office during the almost 11 hour raid, which were unrelated to the CBI probe against his officer.
“AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj said today: “There are rumours about widespread corruption in DDCA”.
Civil servant Kumar, in a previous role, “abused his official position” by awarding government contracts to a favoured private firm over seven years, along with six others, CBI spokeswoman Devpreet Singh told reporters. “I will keep fighting till my last breath for the country”, Kejriwal said.
Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay echoing similar sentiments said Kejriwal’s vocal assertions and his body language shows his desperation.
In fact, as Arun Jaitley spoke of the matter in Parliament, Kejriwal stuck to Twitter as his medium, posting “Why is Jaitley ji so scared of DDCA probe?” However, Jaitley rubbished all the accusations saying, “I don’t think I should comment on rubbish”.
As opposition attacked the Centre over the CBI action, the agency went on an overdrive to convey that the raids were being undertaken after following a due a process of law which included getting a search warrant from the competent court. “The committee has submitted its report and a commission of inquiry was to be set up over it, and a file pertaining to it was in my office”, alleged Kejriwal.
