Paris Prosecutor: Teacher Made Up ISIS Assault
According to law enforcement sources, the teacher was stabbed in the side and the throat at the Jean-Perrin preschool while getting a classroom ready for students.
The official reportedly said the teacher stabbed himself to “have himself transferred” to another school. French media reports said the teacher did not suffer any life-threatening injuries.
The attacker fled after stabbing the teacher and the probe has been taken over by anti-terrorist investigators.
French police in front of the school where a man claiming to be acting for the Islamic State militant group (ISIS) attacked a teacher with a knife in Aubervilliers, near Paris, France, December 14.
The man and woman were arrested Tuesday in Lille, northern France, almost a year after the attacks on the Charlie Hebdo newspaper and kosher store left 17 people dead, the prosecutor’s office said.
The three men who attacked the teacher uttered anti-Semitic remarks during the incident, AFP reported.
The French teacher initially advised that the man who attacked him had been wearing a balaclava and gloves when he attacked. The spokeswoman for the prosecutor’s office, Agnes Thibault-Lecuivre, refused to identify the man or provide further information about his suspected links to the attacks that killed 130 people.
In the immediate aftermath of the incident, security was raised at schools and Education Minister Najat Vallaud-Belkacem visited the institution concerned.
The latest revelations came shortly after French authorities revealed they were questioning three people in relation to terror attacks in the capital.
She added: “We’re going to continue to reinforce security at schools, so as to reassure teaching staff and parents of pupils”.
But in an interview later at the hospital, the man admitted to making up the story, the Paris prosecutor told CNN.
The November edition of Dar-al-Islam, IS’s French language magazine, called on followers to “kill teachers”, saying they were the “enemies of Allah” and “in open conflict against the Muslim family”.
