Duluth Community Remembers Victims Of Gun Violence

Joined by state and city officials and against the backdrop of a consistent barrage of high profile mass shootings, Boston-based Stop Handgun Violence marked today’s three-year anniversary of the deadly shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School by unveiling a new billboard in downtown Boston created to honor victims, highlight how MA gun laws effectively stem the tide of gun violence, and spur action by Congress to follow Massachusetts’ lead.

The school opened its doors for the first time in August. About 100 people attended the protest in the Washington suburb.

Obama hit out at Congress’s ban on a federal agency tracking gun violence, two weeks after an apparently radicalized Muslim couple shot dead 14 people in California.

There have been about 1,000 mass shootings in the US since a gunman killed 26 children and teachers at an elementary school in Newtown, Conn. three years ago, sparking widespread calls for gun reform legislation. He began his attack by killing his mother at their home and ended it by turning his gun on himself.

“The vast majority of Americans support universal background checks, for example, a simple step we could start implementing tomorrow if Republicans would drop their worship of the NRA and their agenda and pick up the mantle of doing the right thing”, Wasserman Schultz said.

Wayne LaPierre of the National Rifle Association has been right all along. It was the first time it has occurred on a school day since the shooting.

Anti-gun Democrats fight these life-saving policies tooth and nail, because maintaining their “all guns are always bad” dogma is more important that the lives of school kids. According to one of the victims’ parents, the video has upset some parents because “it has details of what their child heard and experienced” before being killed.
