Chris Christie gets little time in debate focused on national security
Christie also characterized some of the legislators standing on stage with him as being “people who’ve never had to make a consequential decision in an executive position”.
Christie did not take the bait. “I think we need to be very careful about that”, Paul said.
“If your eyes are glazed over like mine, this is what it is like to be on the floor of the United States Senate”, Christie said, after Texas Sen.
“If we announce that we’re going to have a no-fly zone… it’s a recipe for disaster”, said Paul.
Those comments did not sit well with Rand Paul, who seized the opportunity to blast Christie’s judgement in handling such a sensitive global security issue.
Paul went on to say that “I think when we think about the judgement of someone who might want World War III, we might think about someone who might shut down a bridge because they don’t like their friends”.
During Tuesday’s GOP Debate on CNN, Republican presidential candidate Chris Christie noted that under the current Democratic administration, “fear is the new normal” for most American citizens. In 2011, she said that “many of the members of Congress of both parties who have gone to Syria in recent months have said they believe [Assad] is a reformer”. “I said this in a town hall in New Hampshire last week”. Rand Paul’s (Ky.) accusation that he advocates sparking World War III. And if you think that a no-fly zone is a reckless policy, you’re welcome to your opinion, but how is it working so far as we have 250,000 Syrians murdered and millions running around the world running for their lives.
Ted Cruz also appeared to realize that regime change in the Middle East was a risky game, and Donald Trump was critical of USA nation-building-albeit eager to confiscate the oil from the U.S.’s vanquished foes.
