De Boer urges United fans to get behind Van Gaal

Manchester United fans declared previously in the Transfer Tavern that their woes were over and they’d found stability with Louis Van Gaal but there views have rapidly changed.

Javier Hernandez has heaped praise on Sir Alex Ferguson for taking a chance on him.

“Van Gaal said that I only had a one per cent chance of playing in my position, so I headed to Bayer”, the striker told Spanish newspaper Marca.

The Mexican was controversially allowed to depart Old Trafford in the summer, despite that leaving United with only the out-of-form Wayne Rooney and teenagers Anthony Martial and James Wilson as their centre-forward options for the season. The 27-year-old has been revitalised in Germany, scoring 19 goals this season for club and country.

“I felt confident from the very first day”, Hernandez said.

Hernandez scored nine goals in 33 games for Real, including a Champions League quarterfinal victor against Atletico Madrid.

Louis van Gaal’s men crashed out of the Champions League following last week’s 3-2 defeat against Wolfsburg, before they were beaten 2-1 at AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League on Saturday to add further salt to their wounds.

“The board told me I could go on loan to Real Madrid and it was not a hard decision for me”.

Hernandez said: “I didn’t have the intention to leave but I wanted to get more playing time”.

One source close to events at Carrington has told Goal that the current mood around the first-team squad is the lowest he’s ever known it, with the players seemingly having lost all appetite for Van Gaal’s much trumpeted “philosophy”.

“I am totally grateful to Ferguson”.

“I think he is the best manager in history, in the way he managed his players”.

Van Gaal ricochets these claims by simply stating that United aren’t a financial obscurity any more, and that there are an bad lot of teams who can match their financial powers in the Premier League nowadays.
