Donor pays off $106K in shoppers’ layaways at 2 Ohio stores
A second donor paid the $79,000 tab at a Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania store on Monday, WCHS TV reports.
The company told ABC 27 News an anonymous shopper known only as “Santa B” paid off the balances of holiday layaway plans at its Silver Spring Township store. Items on layaway contained playthings, 70-inch televisions and even a pair of socks. “I’m like, let me call up here and I asked to speak to one of the managers, and they said “no it’s not a scam, it’s for real”, one surprised shopper said. “It’s awesome someone would have this much compassion during the Christmas season to help us”.
The identity of this Secret Santa will likely remain a mystery as Walmart says that was part of the agreement with the person.
Penny Geedy said she was one of the appreciative people who had their gifts paid for by Santa B.
This isn’t the first time local do-gooders have paid off layaway tabs.
“It’s great to see this”, Geedy said.
