Jose Mourinho: Chelsea stars must realise they’re only as good as Sunderland
Frank Lampard believes his crisis-racked former club Chelsea need an urgent shake-up to rescue their season, but does not think that should mean manager Jose Mourinho is sacked.
“When we make defensive mistakes, we are punished because we don’t score enough goals”, he said.
Ah yes said the doubters, but you have yet to play any of the so-called top teams, wait until December when you’ll face Manchester United, Swansea, Chelsea, Everton, Liverpool and Manchester City.
The 24-year-old, who joined Leicester from Ligue 2 club Le Havre in 2014, has been one of the Premier League’s standout performers so far, with 11 goals and seven assists in 15 appearances this season.
“I am not saying you can’t have a bad season and bad games but the attitude must be spot on”. Chelsea’s poor run has sparked rumors that Mourinho will lose his post ahead of the next tie against Sunderland.
“And they have to do everything to get results in a humble way because I don’t think in this moment the players can feel they are top players or they can feel they are superstars”.
“We can not win the Premier League right now, but come on, we all have to do better”, Fabregas said.
And Fabregas, who was dropped to the bench for their recent Premier League defeats by Bournemouth and Leicester, is confident Chelsea can still revive their season. I’ll just finish the season and then we’ll see.
“The flip side, as always with football, is that it’s a game of two halves – and we’ve had a hard period. We’ve put ourselves in this position so we have to now prove – we really, really, really have to now start winning”.
“You look at the table and we are there but you think you are in a relegation battle if you think you are there for three or four months”. “I want one-against-two, because I want a midfielder to come and help”.
“I don’t know whether he’s lost them, but something has to change”.
Jose Mourinho has told his players he should have sold some of them in the summer.
“Chelsea on a bad year should be top six”.
In a later press conference on Monday, Mourinho indicated that he doesn’t understand what the disconnect is, but sees a big difference in how he says he prepares the team and how they wind up playing.
