At GOP Debate, Christie Calls Obama ‘Feckless Weakling’ On Foreign Policy Issues
It’s a topic that the Christie campaign has been trying to dominate in campaign ads touting Christie’s experience as a former federal prosecutor in New Jersey. The attacks have ignited a political debate about President Barack Obama’s effort to defeat the Islamic State in the Middle East and the nation’s security posture in preventing attacks in the U.S. “Mothers taking kids to the bus stop”. Christie said, adding that, “We have had 250,000 Syrians murdered and slaughtered, millions around the world running for their lives – it’s not working, we need to try something else, and that is not reckless”. He was referring to Gov. Chris Christie, but could have been talking about virtually any of the other eight people standing on the stage at The Venetian. Rand Paul during Tuesday night’s debate, where Christie said he’d shoot down a Russian plane if it was in Syria’s no-fly zone.
Christie said he would support and enforce a no-fly zone in areas controlled by ISIS in Syria.
Republican presidential candidate Chris Christie on Wednesday morning fired back at GOP primary rival Sen. “Yes, we would shoot down the planes of Russian pilots” – if, he said, they were “stupid” enough to believe he was the same “feckless weakling” now in the White House. Rick Santorum (R-PA) debuted a radio ad warning, “World War III is upon us”, on Monday.
“If your eyes are glazed over like mine, this is what it is like to be on the floor of the United States Senate”, Christie said, after Texas Sen. Criticizing “the judgment of someone who might want World War III, we might think about someone who might shut down a bridge, because they don’t like their friends”, Paul said.
Paul countered, “If you are in favor of World War III, you have your candidate”.
