For Conor McGregor, UFC 194 Was “Lifetime Of Work”
Jose Aldo looks on after being defeated by Conor McGregor in a featherweight championship mixed martial arts bout at UFC 194, Saturday, Dec. 12, 2015, in Las Vegas. I still feel, at the end of the day, precision beats power, timing beats speed.
Jose Aldo fight was anticlimactic considering how heavy the build up was.
McGregors victory was the fastest title fight in UFC history, surpassing Ronda Rouseys 14-second win over Cat Zingano at UFC 184 in February.
UFC President Dana White seemed to echo these comments, while also revealing the promotion would most likely book McGregor against Frankie Edgar instead of the rematch against Aldo.
“I’d say 100% up to 155 (kilograms, the lightweight class) he’s been struggling with the weight for a long time, you see him at the weigh-ins he’s a massive guy for the weight”.
“You don’t want to see the only champion in the company’s history going out like that, so I had a little moment where I felt sorry for José”, he later added.
The manner of his defeat was stunning, with McGregor making the most of an opening as Aldo attacked to knock the 29-year-old with one vicious punch.

After beating Aldo, McGregor confirmed he is interested in the move.
In the co-main event, Luke Rockhold handed Chris Weidman his first defeat with a fourth-round stoppage to claim the UFC middleweight title.
“If they have Croke Park and they want him, I’ll take that, no problem”. He was also considered the best fighter in the world after the loss of Anderson Silva and the suspension of Jon Jones earlier in the year.
“There’s no way in hell that I’m vacating my belt”, McGregor said. “That’s not happening. There will be a belt on one shoulder, and a belt on the other”, McGregor said. “$72 million?” McGregor said in a post-fight press conference, as quoted by Bloody Elbow. “Way stronger. You can be sure that we will come back stronger, more champion than I was before”.
