War with Pak not an option, talks to end terror: Swaraj
India is insisting that the foreign secretaries’ talks that would determine the course of future dialogue of Pakistan and India should be held in New Delhi while Pakistan is asking it take place in Islamabad.
He said that as much as 3.3 billion cubic feet gas would come through this 56 inch diameter pipeline, out of which 1.3 billion cubic feet is the share of Pakistan and same amount would be taken by India.
Responding to a question in the Lok Sabha, the minister said it was made clear to Pakistan long ago that talks and terror can’t actually be possible as far as dialogue between the countries is concerned.
Stating that India and a positive position enjoyed within the summit, Swaraj included that once they met in London recently both Primary Ministers have consented to resume NSA level talks. For talks we will have to put in faith.
“The government remains committed to taking all necessary steps to safeguard India’s national security interests”, he added.
She said the Prime Minister had raised the issue of the Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism (CCIT) which has been pending in the United Nations for adoption since 1996.
About TAPI gas pipeline project, Sharif said the project will be a game changer for Pakistan, and will open new vistas of regional economic cooperation towards progress and prosperity.
Addressing the Parliament on the Centre’s plans to resume a dialogue with Pakistan, Swaraj also said that talks and terror can not go together.
“As a result of the government’s consistent pursuit of the matter, several individuals including Hafiz Saeed and entities including Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jamaat-ud-Dawaa have been listed under the relevant provisions of the UNSC resolution No. 1267 which deals with Al Qaeda and related organisations”, she said.
