Benavente leaves Madrid for MK Dons
The winger has signed a two-year contract with the Championship side side with an option for a further 12 months, subject to worldwide clearance and Football Association approval.
Attacking midfielder Benavente, 21, is Robinson’s fifth signing of the summer.
The Spanish-born Peruvian, he is a full worldwide with eight appearances tucked into his belt, never made the breakthrough into the ranks of Real’s Galaticos-laden side, instead playing for their “second” team, Real Madrid Castilla, in Spain’s Segunda Divisíon.
Liverpool were reported to have been interested in him last summer for a potential fee of 7 million euros, and West Brom have also been credited with a move, but it appears neither materialised.
The manager believes Benavente will take time to adjust to English football, but says MK Dons is the right club for him.
“I feel we’re a club that suits him”.
Speaking to the MK Dons website Benavente spoke about how he was “happy” to be joining Milton Keynes and that it is a “really good club”, stating he was “excited” to join the rest of the squad in training. We did a lot of due diligence behind the scenes and didn’t get one bad report.
HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club that Real Madrid youngster Cristian Benavente is having a medical at MK Dons.
