What People Searched For Most in 2015, According to Google
That’s perhaps true in religious contexts, but the search engine is undeniably a conduit to information and answers.
Google built a microsite to break all of the searches down including items like most searched for auto models, celebrity weddings, cocktails, diets, and dog questions to name a few.
Joining Odom on the most searched list was the city of Paris, French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo and the the movie “Jurassic World”.
“From devastation to empowerment and tragedy to hope, our 15th annual Year in Search uncovers the moments that captured the world’s hearts-and questions that revealed who we are”, Amit Singhal, Google’s senior vice president for search, said in a company blog post announcing this year’s compilation.
The year in search, which aims to reflect “the spirit of the times”, is determined by Google searches that had the highest spike in traffic in 2015, as compared to 2014. “I’m not doing it to get praise back”.
The other five trending people, in descending ranks, were Bobbi Kristina Brown, Caitlyn Jenner, Ronda Rousey and Charlie Sheen.
The top search term both overall and for people this year was former basketball player and former husband of Khloe Kardashian Lamar Odom, who was hospitalized in October after being found unresponsive at a brothel.
Two of the Kardashian family members have taken the top two slots on Google’s top ten people searches list.
Google has been publishing a version of its Year in Search, originally called Zeitgeist, since 2001.
