Van Gunst Named Honorable Mention All-America
She was previously named an Honorable Mention All-American as a sophomore.
Last season Havili was named AVCA All-America honorable mention during her freshman season. Gray is the only player in BYU history to be a three-time AVCA All-American. She is the espnW National Player of the Year and has led the nation in points (803.0), points per set (6.18 pps), services aces (89), and aces per set (0.68 saps) all season.
This is the third time in program history that Creighton has had multiple women honored with All-America honors following the same season, joining 2012 (honorable-mention picks Megan Bober and Kelli Browning) and 2013 (honorable-mention picks Kelli Browning and Michelle Sicner).
Additionally, the outside hitter picked up seven Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Week awards, including six in a row from weeks 3-8 in the season, and also took home the league’s Freshman of the Year award.
Snuka was one of 15 Pac-12 players to be recognized by the AVCA, including two first-team selections (Samantha Bricio, USC; Lianna Sybeldon, Washington).
Boswell, a native of Aloha, Oregon, was named Third-Team All-America as a junior.
For the second year in a row, University of Oklahoma volleyball middle blocker Marion Hazelwood earned a spot on the All-America Honorable Mention as released by the AVCA on Wednesday. She also recorded 1.67 digs per set, 0.66 blocks per set and 4.56 points per set (fifth in the conference).
The awards will be presented December 18, 2015, in Omaha, Neb., at the AVCA All-America/Players of the Year Banquet. Murphy also broke the WAC record for hitting percentage in a match when she finished with 14 kills on 15 attempts and no errors for a. 933 hitting percentage against Robert Morris. Her nine career weekly awards are second best in Pac-12 history. Foecke is second on the team in kills per set (3.01) and service aces (24). With every defense keying on her, she still led the team in kills (424) and in solo blocks (19). She is the first Husker middle blocker to receive All-American honors since Brooke Delano in 2010.
The Huskers increased their nation-leading total to 80 all-time AVCA All-America certificates while Amber Rolfzen and Wong-Orantes are the 39th and 40th Huskers to achieve All-America honors, which also leads the nation.
Payne is the Big 12 kills per set leader, member of the All-Big 12 First Team, member of the AVCA All-Midwest Region First Team, and a four-time Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week.
Creighton is led by Kirsten Bernthal Booth, the AVCA’s East Region Coach of the Year.
