EA Sports UFC 2 adds Conor McGregor to its cover
Jose Aldo looks on after being defeated by Conor McGregor in a featherweight championship mixed martial arts bout at UFC 194, Saturday, Dec. 12, 2015, in Las Vegas.
Despite the outcome, Aldo was a worthy opponent.
Jones has pointed to the promotion granting Ronda Rousey an immediate rematch, after she was dethroned by Holm last month, as a precedent.
There appear to be at least a few obstacles in his way.
In the co-main event, Luke Rockhold handed Chris Weidman his first defeat with a fourth-round stoppage to claim the UFC middleweight title.
UFC fighters immediately came out in support of both Aldo, and the new 145-pound king, McGregor.
“I said to (UFC co-founder) Lorenzo Fertitta, and I said to (UFC president) Dana (White), I’m bringing in these big numbers”.
He said he’d deliver a knockout to Jose Aldo in UFC 194, and he did just that-in a record-setting 13 seconds.
The UFC brass would prefer to protect their investment and ensure that McGregor makes it to the biggest pay-per-view of all time, but the man himself is having none of it. “That’s not happening. There’ll be a belt on one shoulder and a belt on the other shoulder”. “I’m only 27. Them old motherf–s were 40 before they got that”. I mean I’m busy.
“Tell me one time I’ve not turned up the next day fresh”.
McGregor has always had aspirations to fight at lightweight, but his coach, John Kavanagh, wants him to move up due to the severity of the weight cut.
‘The belts will still be active because I am active, I’m as active as anyone’.
Conor McGregor could challenge for the lightweight title next spring then defend his featherweight belt against Frankie Edgar at UFC 200 on July 9.
McGregor and Jose Aldo finally faced off inside the Octagon and for those who were rooting for Aldo to use his experience against the Irishman, it was the precision and timing of The Notorious that made the difference.
