Ashley Young was left bemused at not starting Manchester United’s 2-1 defeat at Bournemouth on Saturday after Louis van Gaal had indicated the 30-year-old would be in the XI.

Over the last few months, United have been struggling for goals, while the Mexican was busy winning Bundesliga Player of the Month for November.

Since departing for Bayer Leverkusen in a £7m deal Hernandez has been in sensational form, scoring 19 goals for club and country.

Mata told the club’s official website in his blog, as reported by manutd.com: “In these moments is when we have to stick together more than ever, I do believe it, because – luckily – football gives you another game every few days”.

Guillermo Varela, 22, and with three United career appearances to his name, and Cameron Borthwick-Jackson, 18, and with 104 Premier League minutes under his belt, have been favoured over the 30-year-old in recent fixtures.

Upon returning to Old Trafford following his time with Madrid, Hernandez confirmed Van Gaal told him that he wouldn’t receive a lot of playing time.

Sources say that even some players who had previously enjoyed Van Gaal’s approach, and felt he kept them on their toes in the way Sir Alex Ferguson had, have now completely turned against the former Ajax, Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss.

“I had a great time there”. All my time there was good, with an incredible start, with many opportunities but ended badly because the opportunities decreased.

According to the Metro, some fans are preparing to fly a banner reading “Louis van Gaal out” to encourage ownership to fire Man United manager Louis van Gaal.

The player has been quizzed about his exit from United and revealed that Van Gaal didn’t see a place for him in his squad and told him he could depart. “He opened me the door to Europe and I won two leagues”.
