Bucks End Warriors’ Winning Streak After 24 Wins
“We always talk about trying to win the second night of a back-to-back”, Turner told reporters.
“It’s important for us to realize that hey, that was great. but we’re a quarter of the way through the regular season”, he added.
After the Lakers game, the Bucks will stay in Los Angeles to face the Clippers on Wednesday.
“They could play that same defense and we would hit shots”. Social media interactions – the league has more than 920 million likes and followers across all platforms – increase during the games, since more people are awake, and TV partners are putting more resources into pregame and postgame studio shows to serve their larger audiences. Small ball is now the order of the day. This Warriors team has already established themselves as an unforgettably transcendent sledgehammer. The impossible, improbable, unprecedented winning streak is finally over as Steph Curry and the Warriors were thoroughly and convincingly vanquished by the unlikely Milwaukee Bucks, 108-95. Twice, they have accomplished that task in the fourth quarter.
Now that the league knows the Warriors would have no championship hangover, all eyes will be on them to see how they respond to their first loss. But even the best misfire on occasion.
It was the way they lost that was a little surprising.
Golden Eagles beat Badgers, 57-55: Led by Wisconsin-born big men Henry Ellenson and Luke Fischer, Marquette won the annual rivalry game and made a case for the shifting of state basketball power from Madison to Milwaukee. Harrison Barnes was still out, Klay Thompson limped courageously to a 4-of-14 shooting display and Stephen Curry was less on fire than usual. That credit belongs to the Boston Celtics.
On the other side, Michael Carter-Williams, himself a terrible shooter, went 7/10 last night and had a +/- of 22 (which is usually a misleading stat that can’t correct for noise, but is, in this case, indicative of the type of game he had).
Jackson also dished out nine assists while backcourt partner Kentavious Caldwell-Pope approached a triple-double with 18 points, seven rebounds and a career-high eight assists. He joined Hakeem Olajuwon and Derrick Coleman as the only three players to ever put up a 20/10/5/5/5 stat line. “Everyone contributed and did different things down the stretch”. With the 6th game being a double overtime grinder, the 7th one was set to be a challenge.
The Warriors trailed most of the game.
Warriors streak is now a part of contemporary sporting folklore. It’s just one loss.
Speaking of win streaks, The Bucks have a curious record as streak killers. When the wins keep coming, 24 in a row, who among the winners cares to dwell on the fine print?
The Wizards (10-12) snapped an 11-game losing streak to Dallas.
1982-83 76ers – 14 game win streak ended. Utah hasn’t won there since 2010. The Spurs look like they will win over 60 games this year and that is impressive considering how long they have been doing this.
“I was upset. I’m not going to lie”, the Cavaliers guard said of the Warriors Streak ending. “Remember the big picture of the season is be our best come April and chase another ring”. When asked if he had any thoughts about the league recognizing the Warriors’ streak as 28 games, tacking on four wins from the end of the 2014-15 season to their total, James simply shook his head to indicate that he didn’t.
