National Basteball Association Trade Rumors 2015: Houston Rockets Acquire Ty Lawson in Deal With
The Rockets traded for troubled point guard Ty Lawson last night, sending the Nuggets of boatload of basically nothing for a guy who is a borderline All-Star when he’s actually playing basketball.
The Denver Nuggets have reached an agreement to trade guard Ty Lawson to the Houston Rockets, league sources told Yahoo Sports. Beverly was signed to a four-year $25 million deal to stay in Houston during the off-season.
Lawson was arrested and charged with his fourth DUI – and second within a year – on July 14, but the relationship between he and the Nuggets had been strained long before that. Dorsey is capable of giving some nice, quality minutes of defense and rebounding, Papanikolaou actually played quite well before his injury last season and Nick Johnson might turn into a decent National Basteball Association player some day. It’s not ideal, but both teams think they are better for this move. But Ty Lawson, who is one of the NBA’s smartest decision-makers in the heat of the moment, has a choice, and so he has a chance. As of today the Knicks starting point guard in Jose Calderon or Langston Galloway. The market for Lawson has been nearly non-existent since he had another problem with the law. He will suit the Rockets up-tempo style of play.
The Nuggets didn’t want him on the team anymore. Think about the carnage the Rockets will encounter just within their division. One is Lawson has personal issues to work out – he’s in a California alcohol rehab facility now and faces two DUIs from this year (he’s had three DUIs overall and there reportedly are other incidents). Even though it looked like the Rockets were going to be left out, they didn’t give up searching for an option. While the Nuggets get younger, the Rockets are trying to build off falling short during the Western Conference Finals.
The trade is expected to be completed Monday. I have a great relationship with the players on the team.
