Microsoft Releases New Windows 10 App Updates

The new Netflix app should look familiar to anyone that’s used Netflix on a smartphone, tablet or TV. The streamer published a blogpost on Wednesday announced in a blog post that the app will run across Windows PC, tablets, mobile phones, and the Xbox One Console.

Microsoft notes that in the last week alone, Netflix, Pandora, the Wall Street Journal, and others have launched Universal apps.

While we know that Netflix continues to update and re-encode their entire library for a better back-end experience, they’re also working on the front-end as well. If so, and you’re a Windows Phone user, you might be interested to know that Expedia updated their Windows Phone app today.

Verge reports, that Microsoft has approximately 110 million devices that use Windows 10 as their operating system. Details view shows large cinematic artwork for a show or movie and includes episode information for the former, Details view for a movie features suggestions for related content.

Netflix users on Windows typically access the video streaming service across several different screen sizes, scaling factors and resolutions. “The new version of the application uses a responsive layout to optimize the size and placement of items based on the window size and scaling factor”. The app should launch automatically and bring up your search result.

For instance, if you’re using a mouse to browse content, content within a row will be available for paginated scrolling via the buttons at the end of the row.

The “all new Netflix app” is available today on Windows 10 for PCs and tablets, Microsoft says, and a version for phones is coming “in the near future”.

The app has some unique Windows 10 features, like Cortana control and live tiles, but now it more closely matches the Netflix experience found elsewhere.
