President Obama To Meet With Families Of San Bernardino Victims
In his address to the nation, Obama noted the diversity of backgrounds of the San Bernardino victims and said, “Each of them served their fellow citizens and all of them were part of our American family”.
The president’s meetings will be private, and it is unknown if he will make any public statements.
President Barack Obama plans to meet with families of the victims of this month’s shooting massacre in San Bernardino, White House officials said Wednesday.
The president will stop in San Bernardino before continuing on to vacation in Hawaii.
“I’m confident that there are probably some areas where she would disagree with the president”, he said, but reiterated that he was “not surprised” to hear that “their approach is generally similar”.
A workplace holiday party in San Bernardino was attacked on December 2 by a gun-wielding husband-and-wife team of Syed Rizwan Farook, 28, and his wife, Tashfeen Malik, 29.
FBI Director James Comey said the couple had been “radicalized” long before the shooting, even prior to being married. And now he is taking extra steps to show the American people he is very serious about protecting them and to rebut critics who say he is weak and timid in waging his anti-terrorism campaign.
But he’s also met with victims privately, as he did in October after a shooter killed 10 people at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Ore.
Comey said the terror group has perfected the use of social media, and Twitter in particular, to contact potential followers in the United States and elsewhere. Across faith and culture we will support one another in this time of need.
