Australia’s Soundwave Festival Has Been Cancelled

Australia’s Soundwave Festival, typically the first major festival to kick off each new year, will not take place in 2016 according to the promoter and the potential for a return in 2017 doesn’t look good either. My friends in f***ed Up have been on the tour a few times, and they always seem to enjoy it. But Billboard reports that next year’s festival, which was scheduled to start in just five weeks, has been canceled.
Following news of the festival’s cancellation, Soundwave’s ticketing agent Eventopia emailed punters with an official statement, saying it is the festival’s responsibility to deliver refunds. “So now we are in bad situation”, he wrote. I ” m waiting on Eventopia/Ticketek to make their decision.

Soundwave promoter Arash “AJ” Maddah announced the end of the festival on social media today. The fest was slated to roll into Australia’s three biggest cities (Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane) in late January, with headliners including Disturbed, the Prodigy and Deftones.
In line with our ticketing sales agreement, the Festival Promoter is responsible for all ticketing funds that were advanced, and is directly liable to all ticket purchasers for issuing customer refunds. This means that Soundwave 2015 was most likely the festival’s last hurrah. “We can not hold festival without their support”.
