Pep mulls Bayern future amidst England rumours
And now Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola is reportedly set to announce that he will depart from the German giants at the end of the season.
Bild suggested Guardiola was alive to the danger of out-staying his welcome if he remained at Bayern.
At this press conference, it is believed Guardiola will provide “clarity” on his position as manager, and it is expected that he will announce that he will depart the club once the season has finished.
He started his managerial career at Barcelona in 2008 and has won three La Liga titles, two Copa del Reys, three Supercopa de España, two Champions League trophies, two UEFA Super Cups and two FIFA Club World Cups.
Marti Perarnau, the Spanish journalist who shadowed Guardiola through his first season in Munich, has insisted England will be Pep’s next stop.
With senior figures at Bayern losing patience with Guardiola’s refusal to resolve his future at the club, moves have already been made to secure Ancelotti as his successor, with Bayern determined to avoid a period of uncertainty at the club.
“We tried to score again but we couldn’t”, said Bayern captain Philipp Lahm. Both Falk and Diaz in their reports note the ever present rumor that Guardiola may join Manchester City, but Falk in particular also mentions the idea that Guardiola may take another sabbatical.
Chelsea, with Jose Mourinho’s future in doubt, has been batted around as a possible destination, as has Manchester United, where Louis van Gaal has led an underwhelming campaign this season.
The Scot had lost to the then-Barcelona manager twice in Champions League finals in 2009 and 2011 and had asked him t give him a phone call before he joined another club.
But Manchester United’s global appeal could lure Guardiola to Old Trafford, according to Bayern Munich’s honorary president Franz Beckenbauer. However, Bayern went through despite another below-par performance from the German league leader, which was equally unimpressive during its 2-0 Bundesliga win against Ingolstadt on Saturday.
“Conversations broke down, Juan Sebastian Veron came and Pep went to Qatar”.
