Irving won’t make comeback Thursday against Thunder
His knee tested well during the NBA Finals and yet he still fractured his kneecap, so now they are taking more precautions.
But signs point to the Cleveland Cavaliers All-Star point guard returning as soon as Thursday, or next weekend, and reports from the practice court paint Irving as being in the best shape of his life. And the man who dropped 57 points on the Spurs in San Antonio last season still hasn’t played a game this season.
Shumpert has already been ruled out of Thursday’s game against the Thunder with a right groin strain.
Speaking on Tuesday in Boston, where the Cavaliers were preparing to play the Celtics, Blatt said Irving is not 100 percent.
The Cleveland Cavaliers are one step away from Kyrie Irving joining the active roster and logging his first minutes of the 2015-16 National Basketball Association season.
Cavs fans are obviously awaiting Irving’s return with baited breath. Which was frustrating to say the least, considering how many injuries the player has had in his career. “But he’s looking good and he’s feeling good”. The Cavs will consider him questionable moving forward.
If both guards play against Philadelphia, it would be the first time this season Cleveland has had its entire roster at its disposal (barring an injury to someone else, of course).
Right now, they are carrying a three-game winning streak, and with Irving back in action, they could even extend that further.
But over the last three games, after shaking off a season-long three-game funk, the Cavaliers have done it with defense. Sure they’ve looked a little worse for wear here and there this season.
Irving is not returning yet, but when he does the Cavs will be back to full strength.
Cleveland will still have to keep up their pace if they want to sustain their lead in the Eastern Conference though.
