Netflix rolls out Windows 10 universal app
The video streaming app has been completely rewritten from the ground up as a Universal Windows Platform (UWP) app, which allows it to run on devices of all sizes from PCs to tablets, to smartphones (in the “near future”) running Windows 10.
Netflix released a new Windows 10 app that is created to work with a myriad of devices with Windows 10.
Netflix also incorporates Windows 10 features. You won’t have to manually adjust the app if you decide to change the size of the window.
The new Netflix app should look familiar to anyone that’s used Netflix on a smartphone, tablet or TV.
What’s more, during the Black Friday sale, 75 percent of the customers were first-time Windows Store purchasers, according to the company itself, which also adds that, during the recently debuted 10 Cent Deals campaign, paid app purchases increased by 29 times.
Microsoft notes that in the last week alone, Netflix, Pandora, the Wall Street Journal, and others have launched Universal apps. For movies, this page suggests related titles that might be of interest to the user. It’s free, and saves money, so there’s no reason to not recommend this app. If you love discovering and trying new apps, make sure you download myAppFree.
The Details has also been updated, providing better artwork and more information for both shows and movies, as well as suggestions for other things you may wish to watch. Unlike previous iterations, this version of Netflix for Windows bears a responsive layout, which comes in handy if you ever decide to “Snap” Netflix while you’re doing something else in a separate window. If you’re using a mouse to browse content, paginated scrolling within a row is switched on. (Unless you want the advanced features of our very own Flix Plus plugin, in which case you’ll need to use the web.) Check out the link below for more. You can pin the app to the Start menu and see a Live Tile showing the latest show you’ve been watching.
