Staff predictions: St. Louis Rams vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The over/under for this game is sitting at a 41 and it is now a pick “em, according to Las Vegas”. The loser of this game will be just about mathematically eliminated.
It seemed to carry over to a walkthrough practice on Monday where many players got a chance to break in the bright yellow shoes they’ll be wearing as part of an all-yellow ensemble for the NFL Network’s “Color Rush” scheme against Tampa Bay. They are chasing the Minnesota Vikings who are 8-5. The Carolina Panthers have already clinched the NFC South.
Jameis Winston: His highs haven’t been as great as Mariota (his five TD game against the Eagles, notwithstanding) but his lows have been a little better. He likely would’ve accomplished the feat on November 22 against Philadelphia when he threw for five touchdowns and put up 45 points, but Tampa Bay stopped throwing the ball when the game was out of reach.
“As a running back, you have to want a lot of carries”, Martin said. After suffering a torn ACL while playing for the University of Georgia last season, Gurley was forced to miss all of the preseason and his first two games of the regular season. “I’m not one of those look-good, play-good guys”.
Heading into St. Louis and beating the Rams isn’t going to be easy, but Winston and the Buccaneers are going to do just that. They’re in the race, but their loss to New Orleans last week makes them a long shot.
Jeff Fisher, though, isn’t concerned with that. With constant talks about relocating to Los Angeles and so many holes to fill, this is going to be one agonizing offseason for Rams fans.
He’s run the ball with a vengeance behind a limited offense that’s had its season-opening quarterback benched and its offensive coordinator fired. While they struggle against the pass, ranked 21st, they excel against the run, ranked a nice eighth.
Stay at home and cheer on Todd Gurley and Doug Martin to give them a big boost in the semifinals of their fantasy playoffs or get in line to snare a ticket to J.J. Abrams’ sure-to-be blockbuster.
The Rams pulled off their first win in six weeks, defeating a hot Detroit Lions team coming off a narrow loss against the Packers by a score of 21-14. They also have WR Tavon Austin, who is capable of getting into the painted area in a variety of ways. They realize full well it could also be the final game for the franchise in St. Louis after 21 seasons. You can watch a live game stream here.
St. Louis is No. 2 in the NFC in sacks with 36 and is led by Aaron Donald with 11.
The goal is to win their final three games to finish with an 8-8 record, which, again, would be disappointing for a team that each year, gets the preseason benefit of the doubt that things will get better.
