Paris attacks – and Lamar Odom – top 2015 Google searches
The list for top trending politicians was less surprising, with GOP candidate Donald Trump topping the list, but Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton did not make the list.
Two of the Kardashian family members have taken the top two slots on Google’s top ten people searches list. Traffic spiked in October when Odom fell into a coma and was on life support for several days after becoming ill at a brothel in Nevada. Americans really wanted to know how many calories were in a toasted graham latte; and the 2016 Chevrolet Malibu was the top-trending auto. American Sniper 4. Caitlyn Jenner 5. The most searched subject was the terror attacks in Paris, with 897 million queries, labeled “terror in the heart of Europe”.
In the US, however, the top 10 searches of 2015 showcase a different agenda: National Basketball Association star Lamar Odom reached No. 1, ahead of Caitlyn Jenner (fourth place) and Ronda Rousey (fifth). Google receives three billion search queries a day from every corner of the globe, according to Google’s senior vice president of search, Amit Singhal.
The most searched topic of the year was Lamar Odom. When terrorists attacked the French city on November 13, people around the world asked “What happened in Paris?”. Weight loss is another popular topic, as people searched for the calorie counts of their favorite unhealthy snacks.
For consumer technology, the iPhone 6S, released this year was the top item, followed by the rival Samsung smartphone Galaxy 6S, the Apple Watch, iPad Pro and the LG G4 smartphone.
Google also looked at trending searches for sports, movies, and politics. One is the mobile game “Agario”, which is at number 7, and the other is “Fallout 4”, which is at number 9. The interview and speculation beforehand that he was the unnamed actor in a tabloid report on the story made him a trending search on Google.
