Raiders’ Mack named AFC Defensive Player of the Week
Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak supported Schofield on Monday. Next, I think we need to say “You’re Welcome” to Payton Manning. He wasn’t about to prognosticate an eventual return to the lineup for the 18-year veteran.
“The way he can get around the corner and bend and get low to the ground – those sort of things – it kind of reminds you of Derrick Thomas”, Woodson said. “He just really was unblockable most of the day”.
Anderson put Manning in a cast for a week and then a walking boot for several more days while putting his rehab on hold.
The Broncos coach declined to name Brock Osweiler the starter for the Steelers, though it appears unlikely Peyton Manning will be ready. It was a disgusting loss, an horrific performance from a number of players but certainly no one on the defense deserved any of the blame. “But once again, that’s just something out of my control”.
Hopefully this is something that Kubiak will learn from and if he is going to make an egregious error in judgement coaching this team, I think I’d rather have it happen now in the regular season than in the playoffs. “And that’s what I did”.
“Still confident and great in the huddle”, Broncos tight end Owen Daniels said of Osweiler.
“Nobody has another guy like that”, Del Rio said. Denver, and the fans of the donkeys has been flying a mile high (pun intended) over the last three weeks.
The Broncos are 3-1 under Osweiler and 7-2 with Manning, although they’ve struggled to reach the end zone no matter who’s taking the snaps. “That kid is smiling all the time”. “Obviously, it’d be nice to get help, but a lot of it was my technique”. I’m proud of Brock. He’s doing a good job for his team. “There’s a strong likelihood that we’ll have to make a move to bring another guy in”.
The Raiders were encouraged and hopeful that Condo would be fine with rest, but those hopes were dimmed when tests revealed a potentially more serious injury. Manning was on pace a career-worst 16-game pace with nine touchdown passes and 17 interceptions through nine games.
He has not played in a game since being removed in the third quarter of a November 15 game against Kansas City that the Broncos lost 29-13. Outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware returned to action for the first time since aggravating his back injury, but was limited to 15 snaps and did not sack or hit Raiders quarterback Derek Carr. So did Emmanuel Sanders and Vernon Davis.
“We started throwing the ball a lot at the end of the game, trying to get ourselves in position to win, which caused our tackles to be in some one-on-one [situations]”, Kubiak said. I know that he’s disappointed. Everybody was excited to see him back.
“It shows his ability to really put the ball in areas that are very hard”, Oakland defensive back TJ Carrie said Tuesday.
“I don’t look at it like that”, Osweiler said. He played a tremendous football game. It’s another football game against a great opponent on the road.
