Raid targeted at Kejriwal, not at Principal Secretary, said Sisodia
Under attack over its raids at the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s office building, CBI on Wednesday justified the action saying the list of all the files seized will be placed before the court even as it continued questioning his Principal Secretary in a corruption case. They’re telling me I didn’t mind my language, my language may be bad because I hail from village near Hisar, what about you?
The official said 5-6 CBI officials came in two cars and conducted the raid. The allegations regarding tender do not stand. He was questioned regarding tenders given to ICSIL.
“I am surprised at the raids at my office”, Kejriwal told reporters in the evening, hours after he broke the news of the raid with a tweet “CBI raids my office”, as the CBI team reached the third floor of Delhi Secretariat. The CBI has denied that Kejriwal’s office, located in secretariat, was searched. The investigating agency has found documents pertaining to fixed deposits worth Rs 1.66 crore allegedly found from AK Duggal, former MD, ICSIL.
The BJP called Mr Kejriwal’s words against the PM “abominable” and said he owed an unqualified apology to PM Modi.
Congress and AAP are demanding Jaitley’s resignation over alleged “gross financial irregularities” in Delhi’s cricket body DDCA when he headed it from 1999 to 2013.
Deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia said: “If the raid was in the chief minister’s office, it was in his office”. When Modi couldn’t handle me politically, he resorted to this cowardice.
The CBI later said reports regarding a search at Kejriwal’s office were baseless.
After Jaitley spoke in the Rajya Sabha, the Delhi chief minister shot back: “FM lied in Parliament”.
“Recently, we have received an anonymous complaint about Rajendra Kumar (IAS AGMUT Cadre) alleging corruption issues as well as disproportionate assets; Complaint is addressed to Hon’ble Lt. Governor, Delhi”.
Kejriwal also tweeted that documents seized from his office had “no relation” to allegations against his principal secretary Rajender Gupta, which, the CBI had said, was the reason for the raids at the Delhi Secretariat on Tuesday.
Sources told TOI that some more Delhi government officials from various departments, including VAT, IT department, Delhi Jal Board and health and family welfare, are also being probed for allegedly indulging in corrupt practices. Finding himself acting as a shield to cover an officer under investigation, the Delhi Chief Minister has attempted to focus attention on me.
