National Herald case paralyses Parliament
Rahul Gandhi, who interacted with women entrepreneurs in Guwahati and addressed grass-roots workers of the Congress said his party would return to power in Assam in the next assembly elections.
Speaking outside the Parliament on Wednesday, Rahul Gandhi said: “It’s 100% political vendetta coming out of the PM’s Office”. For Congress to accuse the government of practising tyranny is like a man crying at becoming an orphan after killing his parents, he said.
“Everyone is equal before the law and nobody in the country is allowed privileges; the Gandhis should realise that”.
Referring to the Delhi High Court dismissing the plea of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi to quash the summons issued to them in the National Herald case, he told media persons here that: “Matter driven by Prime Minister’s Office. That is not going to happen”, the Congress VP had added.
Swamy had alleged that Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi had floated a Section 25 company called “Young Indian”, which acquired Associated Journals, founded by late Jawaharlal Nehru, that published the National Herald and Quami Awaz.
“Let them (government) do what they want”.
He said it was the trial court’s decision to fix December 19 as the date for the Congress leaders to appear before it.
On External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj’s visit to Pakisatan, Hussain said Afghanistan is a friend of India and she has gone there to take part in a meeting in that country.
While no Congress member specified the issue agitating them, their vociferous protests came a day after the Delhi high court, in a blow to Sonia and Rahul Gandhi, declined to give them any relief in the National Herald case, asking them to appear before the trial court.
Principal opposition Congress party stormed the floors of parliament today (Tuesday) and accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government of pursuing a “vendetta” against the Gandhi family, in a fresh blow to hopes of passing a crucial tax reform. “Who is threatening judiciary we all know”.
“Well, I absolutely see a political vendetta. Someone tell me what is your issue”, she said.
Echoing similar sentiments, Union Parliamentary Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu said that the government had no role to play at all in the National Herald case. The court will hear the case on December 19.
Swamy alleged that the AJL received an interest-free loan of Rs.90.25 crore from the Congress and the party transferred the debt to YIL for Rs. 50 lakh.
