Trump may dump the next Republican debate
The threat to Los Angeles schools drew national attention on Tuesday as GOP candidates sparred frontrunner Donald Trump and each other during the fifth and final Republican presidential debate.
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Paul likewise offered sharply contrasting positions on foreign policy. At the time, Cruz said that his amendment was created to help the bill pass. However, he has recently cast his amendment as a “poison pill”, created to keep the bill from passing.
“Donald is great at one the one liners… but he’s a chaos candidate, and he would be a chaos president”.
“I really don’t want Jeb’s endorsement, because he is a low-energy person and he does not represent strength, power and stamina, which are qualities our country desperately needs”, Trump said in a statement to The Washington Post. The political conventional wisdom at that time was quickly turned on its head by the rapid rise of businessman Donald Trump.
“Leadership is not about attacking people and disparaging people”.
The establishment may not like it, but the GOP has become Trump’s party, and Tuesday night didn’t change that.
“I just think it’s very unprofessional”, he asserted.
“I’m reminded of what FDR’s grandfather said (referring to former USA president Franklin Delano Roosevelt), all horse thieves are Democrats but not all Democrats are horse thieves”, Cruz joked in a swipe at Democrats while making the point that not all Muslims are terrorists or extremists. They all succeeded at their first objective, but I’m not sure anyone scored on the second. Do you agree with them?
The debate was dominated by national security, reflecting the reshaping of the 2016 presidential contest by the recent attacks in Paris and San Bernardino, California. “You’re going to have to do it and prove to people that it’s working, and that was the lesson of 2013”. According to the latest Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll, Trump was at 27 percent, followed by Cruz with 22 percent.
“No, I’ve learned not to answer questions”, he said.
“Well, let’s see, I’m at 42 and you’re at 3, so far, I’m doing better”, Trump retorted. I don’t think it’s possible.
Rubio sparred with Ted Cruz, who is also a Cuban American senator, over immigration. He promised to secure the border and “triple the border patrol”. Around 54 percent of unauthorized Latino immigrants in 2013 said they identified with or leaned toward the Democratic party, compared to 19 percent who said the same of the Republican Party.
