Rahul Disrespected Nation’s Judicial System: Gadkari
I have full faith in judiciary.
Accusing Rahul Gandhi of disrespecting the country’s judicial system, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari today asked Congress to adopt democratic means to oppose the government instead of levelling “false” allegations.
The Congress Party wants the government to intervene and somehow quash the court order and is blocking all business in the Parliament alleging “vendetta” against the its two leaders.
The Congress, however, accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of running a political vendetta against it, saying there was nothing illegal done by them and it will fight it out in the court of law.
The party also fielded three of its senior leaders and lawyers – Kapil Sibal, Abhishek Singhvi and Randeep Surjewala – who insisted that the government and the BJP wanted a “Congress-mukt” Bharat, and hence such cases against Congress leaders were being pushed.
He said the Congress has no issue to debate in the Parliament and, therefore, it is creating ruckus unnecessarily. “The same questions I am asking the Prime Minister (Modi) or the government, I am going to continue asking them”, he said.
“Who does not know which party has been doing the politics of vendetta for the past so many years”.
By holding up Parliament because its leaders had been called to answer charges in the National Herald case, the Congress party was disrespecting both judiciary and the legislature, BJPs national spokesman Shahnawaz Hussain said on Thursday.
However, on Tuesday, they were directed to appear in person on December 19 by a Delhi court which allowed their plea seeking exemption from personal appearance for the day in the National Herald case.
Party leaders, including its president Sonia Gandhi and son Rahul, have been summoned by a Delhi court on a complaint against them by the BJP’s Subramanian Swamy for alleged cheating and misappropriation of funds in taking control of the defunct National Herald newspaper.
“Let them do what they want”.
The government needs Congress support to pass key legislations in the Parliament, as part of its reforms agenda.
Parliament witnessed disruptions over the National Herald case this week after a Delhi court asked Congress chief Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi to appear on December 19 in the National Herald case.
