Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Announces 2016 Inductees
The induction ceremony will take place on April 8 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Artists are eligible for nomination 25 years after their first release. Deep Purple and Steve Miller were eligible in 1993.

N.W.A. formed in 1986 – two years after James’ birth – and its most influential rap album (Straight Outta Compton, now the name of a biographical, major motion picture) was released in 1988. Joining the pop rock icons will be Deep Purple, Steve Miller, Chicago and N.W.A. Tickets go on sale in February.
Cheap Trick bassist Tom Petersson said in a statement: “We can’t thank the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame enough for honoring Cheap Trick”.
Five to seven performers are normally inducted each year. There was never any despairing about it because we were still working and we still are working, whether we’re honored with it or not. Nine Inch Nails, the Smiths, Janet Jackson, Yes, the Cars, the J.B.’s, Chic, Los Lobos, Chaka Khan, and the Spinners were all nominated, and none of them will make it in.

Fans of old white guys should get ready to fill their boots again, because the 2016 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees have been announced.
Chicago was the top choice among the fans, collecting more than 37 million votes and registering more than 23 percent of ballots cast by the general public.
