Arvind Kejriwal claims documents seized by CBI not related to investigation
There were documents in the chief minister’s office on this, as Mr Kejriwal takes care of all important documents, inquiries and vigilance documents.
“I am dismayed”, said then Finance Minister and Tamil Nadu lawmaker P Chidambaram who asked his colleague and then minister in-charge of the CBI, Narayanasamy to conduct an inquiry. “After obtaining warrant from the competent court, searches are in progress in 14 locations in Delhi and [Uttar Pradesh]”.
The agency has claimed to have recovered about Rs 16 lakh, including Rs 2.4 lakh in cash, foreign currency of the value of Rs 3 lakh from the residence of Kumar.
Sources told TOI that some more Delhi government officials from various departments, including VAT, IT department, Delhi Jal Board and health and family welfare, are also being probed for allegedly indulging in corrupt practices. “The assistant delivered the money to his auto, which was intercepted by the CBI outside his office and the officer was nabbed with the bribe amount”, a CBI official said.
Kumar’s office is situated on the same floor as Kejriwal’s in the Delhi Secretariat.
A government-appointed panel had recently recommended that the BCCI suspend DDCA over financial irregularities and corruption. Whole world knows it’s den of corruption and you have been presiding for too long!! CBI spokesperson Devpreet Singh rebutted the charge, clarifying that the office of the Chief Minister was neither searched nor sealed.
“A few days ago, a Secretary of the Delhi Government was searched and arrested after being caught red handed for allegedly accepting a bribe”.
A furious Kejriwal yesterday vowed to continue the fight against the ruling dispensation till his last breath and dared Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying that he was not at all scared of the CBI raid.
The party described the accusations by Delhi’s AAP government as “blasphemous and preposterous campaign bordering on political hysteria”. “My fight is against corruption”. Finding himself acting as a shield to cover an officer under investigation, the Delhi chief minister has attempted to focus attention on me.
“If you see the seizure memo, the kind of files that were seized including the cabinet decisions and file movement registers, I do not understand the connection they have with the alleged scams for which the raids were conducted”, he added.
New Delhi: Claiming that the seizure made by the CBI proves that CM Arvind Kejriwal’s office was raided yesterday, Aam Aadmi Party today sought a privilege motion against Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and the government for “misleading” Parliament over the issue.
